Meet Vladamir Plansk, Russian Physicist and Trainer to my ARCH RIVAL Ivan Jerkingov. He taught Jerkingov how to properly pole-vault and it took sheer American will, and a good bit of the Rocky IV Soundtrack for me to over come the ‘Soviet Secretariat’. If this man is now involved in Curling, and by the looks of it, he is, an announcement of Jerkingov’s coming out of retirement to become a pro-Curler can NOT be far off. Once a Soviet, always a Soviet.

‘Sugar’ Kane while U.S. Reigns
While relaxing on my couch with my feet up and a Cranstone in hand (eh, that’s beer to those in the know, a cold one at that) … I decided to break out the Sega Genesis and NHL ‘92. While trying to break the glass with former San Jose Shark and current U.S.A. head coach Ron Wilson’s slapshot, I began wondering how I’ll invest my money in this USA v. Finland game at 3 pm today. My crippling xenophobia prohibits me from betting against the United States, plus I have complete faith in Captain America, Jamie Langenbrunner having this young, scrappy, and patchy bearded group of Americans ready to take on the Fins and to eventually fight for the gold against the sons of Mrs. Butterworth. But I’m getting ahead of myself so let us concentrate on the over/unders and prop bets… at first glance I like the following:

Number of Goals Scored by Patrick Kane > 1 is paying 12 to 1 so I like Patrick “Sug” Kane to net 2 in a US victory.
Coincidentally that’s the same odds that there is still > 1 handgun in the Washington Wizards Locker Room at any given moment. Too true, that’s an easy win.
All kidding aside, the Finnish team have some firepower in Teemu Selanne, Saku Koivu and Jere Letinen, plus more than capable goalies, three of them actually. The United States can’t afford to let the Finns get out to an early lead or this game will be over, hopefully Ryan Miller will continue to do his best Jim Craig and when it’s ALL said and done, hopefully our red, white, and blue boys will be celebrating on ice like Billy Smith … or dare I say, the Canadian Women!
